The Reach Project

The Reach Project is a program of NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties. Our licensed therapists provide free and confidential services to staff members of companies that have contracted us to provide these services. All services are provided virtually, typically via phone or zoom depending on the type of service.

Our Services at a Glance:

Workshops

Workshops are trainings that increase awareness about a given topic, as well as develop and/or build various skills that support wellness in the workplace.

To maximize learning, we adjust the style of our workshops as needed to support the topic being discussed. For example, some workshops may include practicing skills or discussing scenarios during the training. Other topics may be more appropriate for a webinar-style, which are typically shorter, educational workshops, where concepts and key information is presented to employees, and employees are offered the opportunity to ask questions or seek clarification from our trainers. Regardless of the format, our presentations are engaging and are held virtually.

Groups

Groups offer each other different perspectives, suggestions, and a supportive ear. Group interactions provide an opportunity to build relationships and receive interpersonal feedback about how we experience one another. These groups also help individuals to realize that they are not alone in their journey.

Our team facilitates two types of groups: Support Groups and Wellness Groups.

Support Groups are groups where individuals with common concerns and life experiences come together to Support groups provide a safe, confidential space where employees with common concerns and life challenges can seek guidance and provide support to their peers. Our clinicians can facilitate groups on various topics including: Caregiving for Aging Family Members, Strategies for Balanced Mental Health, Alcohol and Substance Use, etc.

Wellness groups are educational support groups designed to support your employee’s emotional wellness. More specifically, our wellness groups are a form of counseling in which individuals meet with a small group of colleagues to explore, discuss, and work through any challenges or problems they and their peers may be experiencing. These virtual groups typically include tools or assessments that employees can use to explore their current state, feelings or skills; information about the topic at hand to increase their awareness; and new strategies that they can use to improve their wellness. We provide these groups on a variety of topics relevant to employees’ wellness, including: Coping with Life and Work Stress, Avoiding Burnout and Self-care, Managing my Mood, Incorporating Change into Daily Routines, and more.

Individual Support Services

Employees can reach out to our team via email or by completing our online form. When they do so, one of our licensed therapists will respond within a business day, and whenever possible we respond immediately. Our therapists are available to provide support in a variety of situations, including stress, depression, anxiety, life changes (like marriage, divorce, etc.), and more. There is no such thing as a problem that is “too large” or “too small.” When in doubt, please reach out.

Our licensed therapists can provide support, as well as resources via phone and zoom. If our licensed therapist determines that brief therapy would be beneficial, they will deliver that support without needing to refer to a third party.

When someone needs longer-term support or other services, our therapists will connect the individual with the appropriate party and will provide support to them until they get connected with those services. While our present contract does not allow us to provide therapy or direct support to family members, we do provide any needed resources to employees so that they can obtain needed services for their family members, and we check in to see whether the employee would benefit from receiving therapy/support.

Please note that as of October 2022 our individual support services are only available for individuals who are in California; this is the case even if our service is provided virtually and is due to licensing requirements.
