Commonly Asked Questions:

· How many residents share each bedroom?

o Two residents in each of our rooms except

o Three residents in our loft which is larger, provides more privacy, and has a spacious private bathroom.

o We do not have any single rooms at this time.

· How much storage space do I get for my belongings?

o In your room, you have a nightstand, three drawers from a chest of drawers, and half a closet where you can store your belongings.

o Additionally, you have space in the refrigerator and pantry of one of our kitchens, where you can store your personal food items.

· How do you keep your house so clean and beautiful?

o Our residents participate in chores, which are rotated regularly.

· Can you help me with joining a class or starting a new program?

o As this is an Independent Living Home, our Housing Manager and staff do not provide support with finding resources or with getting connected to programs or classes. If you need these services, we encourage you to request support from your existing programs, health or mental health providers, or to call the NAMI San Diego’s Helpline to receive information about resources.

· What does your housing manager do?

o She prepares dinners five nights a week; ensures our refrigerator and pantry are well stocked; develops the dinner menu; makes minor repairs, contacts our landlord for larger repairs, and contacts contractors and vendors for repairs that are needed but not covered by our landlord; holds house meetings; purchases items needed for our home; conducts outreach to promote our home; identifies and interviews new residents; provides orientation and tours to new residents; supports residents with organizing the weekly chore assignments; addresses and/or responds to suggestions and requests made by residents; collects monthly rent; and more!
