Illness and Treatment Information
NAMI San Diego strives to provide accurate and reliable information on
mental illnesses and their treatments. It incorporates this information
from various sources. NAMI, NAMI California, mental health care providers,
advocates, and researchers remain as important sources. NAMI San Diego
desires to be a valuable resource for those needing basic mental illness
and treatment information.
Family-to-Family Education
The program is comprised of a series of 12 classes for the families of
persons with serious and persistent brain disorders (mental illnesses).
These classes are small and represent a new concept and curriculum.
In this model, the course co-teachers are family members themselves and the
course has been designed and written by an experienced family member-mental
health professional. The course balances education and skill-training with
self care, emotional support and empowerment.
Schizophrenia: Education for Families and Caregivers
A seven-week free educational program for families,
loved ones and caregivers of people with schizophrenia.

In Our Own Voice: Living With Mental Illness
A recovery-education program presented by trained consumer
presenters/facilitators to other consumers,

It is for anyone who needs to know how people with schizophrenia
and other serious mental illnesses cope with the realities of their
disorder while recovering and reclaiming productive lives with meaning
and dignity.
